The Haunted Tours of the Molly Brown House Museum

The city of Denver Colorado is filled with haunted homes and tours. While there are many haunted homes in Denver, one of the most well known is the Molly Brown House Museum. The home is over a hundred years old and famous for its interesting history and previous homeowners. However, over the years tours of the home have brought tales of ghost hauntings from many tourists who’ve had ghostly experiences in the Denver home.

About Molly Brown

The home of Molly Brown was originally built in the year 1882. The home was due for demolition in 1970 before it was saved by Historic Denver, near the Denver Mint, Inc who later restored the home.

The most famous owner of the home was Margaret “Molly” Tobin Brown, a socialite who survived the sinking of the Titanic. This “Titanic heroine” survived the sinking of the RMS Titanic ship back in 1912. Molly earned the nickname, “Unsinkable Molly Brown” for rowing a lifeboat over 7.5 hours to get to safety.

The famous socialite when on to marry a man names J.J. Brown, a mining engineer. The couple was avid philanthropists and they loved to travel the world. It was in 1894 that they bought the home for $30,000. J.J. Brown died in 1922 and Molly Brown kept living at 1340 Pennslyvania St till her death in 1932.

After the home was saved from demolition in the 1970s, Historic Denver, Inc had the home restored. In 1972 the home was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Over the years the home has become an education museum. The home has its original architecture, furniture and tons of memorabilia some from the Titanic.

After the death of Molly Brown, there have been many owners of the home. The home has been a house for troubled girls, a private home, and an apartment building for young men.

It seems the home is still occupied by the spirit of former residents. Guests have felt cold spots in different areas of the Molly Brown House Museum. Over the years people have claimed to see the ghost of Molly Brown, J.J. Brown and other family members.
